Last night at 9pm, Amber and I sat around our kitchen table and signed the Purchase Agreement papers to sell our home of the past 6+ years. With Amber's wisdom and direction we did not advertise our home on the Realtor website for Utah ($400.00) nor did we advertise in the local paper ($140.00). We did not go with a realtor ($11,300.00). We just put a sign in our yard ($15.00) and made a website ($7.00). The house sold in nearly exactly one week's time.
The closing date, of course, is later in the month or early next month, but they are pre-approved on their financing and they are the parents of one of our neighbors who want to live closer to help with their grandkids (Cool Idea!).
We enjoyed our visit with them as we signed the paperwork. Aylee was torn up about it though. As I went into the bedroom to make copies of the documents, the poor sweetheart was near tears. She asked why we had to sell our house rather than rent it to them. She also didn't understand why we felt we needed to leave our house that we loved so much.
I knew how she was feeling because many of the same feelings have come into my mind. It is funny how a house can be so personal and an emotional thing.
