Mobility Woes

We recently got a stroller for Avary to sit in so that she could watch the eventful sagas in our family from a better perspective.  With her little walker she somehow gets all over the house.

The other day I was working from home when I heard a big crash.  I stepped out of the office to find that Avary got her self into a little quandary.  She had actually scooted over to the hat rack and knocked it over.  She had the funniest look on her face that said, "Man, now how did that get there?"

First Science Fair

Aylee was involved in her first science fair this week.  Her science project has been in the works since a few weeks before thanksgiving.  Her hypothesis was that highly caffeinated drinks would have more of an effect on food that is immersed in them than non-caffeinated drinks.  She tested a variety of foods with a variety of drinks. 

In the end, her hypothesis was proven wrong - at least with the foods she tested.  It was a really good experience for her.

I stopped by the school to watch her present her experiment to classmates.  She did a terrific job.

First Solids

While we were eating dinner tonight, Avary took a huge interest in my food - especially my cup of water.  I thought I would test her out with my water and she actually did really well.  She spent the rest of the meal grabbing for my cup, holding my cup while I assisted, and drinking the water. 

We have been holding out on solids just because, among other things, which Avary being our last, we really are in no rush having her grow up.  But, watching how adept she was at drinking, we decided to get out the baby cereal.  She took it really well.  Of course she made the funny faces accompanying a first bite of solids, but she didn't refuse them and she ate them well.  Whether we like it or not, we have to admit she is growing up!

Reading Buddies

Alayna has been working hard this year learning how to discover the power of the written word. She is required to read one book three times every day. Yesterday when I came home from lunch I found her reading to Avary.
