Aliece Finishes the Book of Mormon

So far, each one of our Seven year old children have made a personal decision that they will read the Book of Mormon before their baptism at the age of Eight. When we presented the challenge to Aliece, she too wanted to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover.

To help her along this path, we downloaded the Audio version of the Book of Mormon onto an MP3 player. The rule was she would follow along in her Book of Mormon with the Narrator.

Aliece also had a little chart that she used to track her progress. Along the way there were small prizes that helped to keep her motivated and excited about reaching her goal.

During our monthly Daddy-Daughter interview today she and I talked about her Book of Mormon reading process. She told me that she was in Ether, at the 4th chapter. We talked about how she was definitely going to be able to finish before her baptism.

Tonight, at bed time she wanted to hurry up to bed because she decided she wanted spend the rest of the evening in bed in order to finish up the Book of Mormon. Tonight, February 7, 2010, she came down to the office and told Amber and I she was on the last chapter. She sat on Amber's lap as we listened and read the final verses of the Book of Mormon together.

We're really excited for Aliece - way to go!
