India Photo: Tree House

During one of our evenings in India the management team went to one of the Indian managers homes for dinner. (Arif Sharif). After dinner one of his neighbors stopped by who used to work at Novell. Her name was Vani Sharma. My boss, Darin, told us that we needed to go over to Vani's house. We made a quick trip over there and found it on the ground floor there was this giant tree trunk.

When they had built the house there was a palm tree in the middle of the plot of ground. Bangalore is known as the Garden City. But with several million people in the city, trees remain a very important part of the landscape. This family did not want to chop down a tree in order to build their house. So, they built access through all two stories and the roof of their house for their tree.

The husband let us onto the roof and I snapped this picture of me standing by the top of the palm trees protruding forth out of their roof.
